For her latest album, Anja Plaschg, also known as Soap&Skin, processed field recordings of instruments and sounds she has made over the past ten years and put them together as samples in her Viennese apartment. In the 12 songs of the album, electronics, classical musical instruments and Soap&Skin's deep-drilling vocals unite to create dynamic beauty, which will now – as an extended sound experience with the stargaze ensemble – makes the Elbphilharmonie vibrate.
The Elbphilharmonie, in collaboration with the International Summer Festival Kampnagel, presents the Austrian musician Soap&Skin, accompanied by the stargaze ensemble and its conductor André de Ridder (who also directs the concert featuring the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra and Bell Orchestre on 23 August). Soap&Skin performs older songs as well as her latest studio album »From Gas to Solid / You are My Friend« in a version for chamber orchestra.
After various commissions for film and theatre, this latest album marks a continuation of her raw records from 2009 and 2012, with which the 1990-born pianist and singer established her exceptional status in the international music scene. Plaschg took a deep look behind the textures of the pop surface and created a musical range from the most subtle chamber music to noise thunderstorms.
